Hi Jody, welcome to the team! How are you finding your new home in the Margaret River Region? What are you loving most about your sea change after living in Perth?
I have always been a coastal country person and I love in Dunsborough you get the best of both worlds – spoilt for choice with beautiful beaches and bush walks too. There is always something fun happening in the region and it’s not too far from Perth.
The Margaret River Region has become a haven for people seeking health and wellbeing escapes. Why do you think that is? What does the Margaret River Region offer that makes it so unique?
The peace and tranquillity you experience in the country environment, a walk along the beach, a walk in the bush is an instant soul revival.
The beautiful natural environment lends itself to relaxation and clearly the development of wellbeing spas suit the region. It offers people a convenient escape from the rush of their everyday life, even a weekend away is a soul revival for many. The natural beauty of the area encourages people to get out and about and be active.
How did you get your start in the spa and wellness industry?
My wellness journey started out more on the mental landscape embarking on a Psychology degree as a school leaver but then I developed a passion for Aromatherapy which sort of took over my life!
And it has been redefined since then with continual learning in health and wellbeing. I love that the health and wellbeing industry is so rewarding for your clients, it makes job satisfaction very high.
You have a core passion for remedial massage. Can you tell our readers a bit more about remedial massage and why this technique is so beneficial?
Remedial massage really does help people manage chronic pain, provide relief for acute injury or simply assist them in managing stress from today’s busy world.
People experience genuine results when working with a professional remedial therapist. Working in massage is such a relaxing job environment too…..nice music, nice oils, making people feel good makes the work place a peaceful place to be.
What does Vie Spa Bunker Bay offer that isn’t easy to find elsewhere? What makes it special?
Vie Spa is a beautiful spa, the treatment rooms are a generous size which is great for the therapists and guests. I believe the ambience of the treatment room really adds to the effect of the treatment and the Vie Spa is certainly a relaxing, peaceful atmosphere.
We offer an amazing range of treatments where you can have a simple massage for 60 minutes or make a day of it with a range of blissful treatments.
Do you have a particular favourite treatment at Vie Spa? What would you recommend for someone who is a first time visitor?
The Heaven on Earth treatment is a great combination of body treatments including a facial, full body exfoliation, full body massage and foot treatment for a luxurious 2 hours. What more could you ask for? I would recommend this to someone who would like some time out and serious pampering.
This summer we have a special that has been very popular, the Summer Escape package for 60minutes where you choose three mini treatments from a range of six. Very pampering and a great taster of what we offer at Vie Spa.
What is your favourite way to relax and de-stress at home?
I have recently built a house and my top priority was a spa bath! I believe highly in the value of Epsom salts or magnesium bath salts with essential oils for relaxation and to ease muscle tension.
A beautiful candle and a herbal tea makes a spa bath in the evening the perfect way to relax and recover. A simple way to look after yourself at home.
As a senior professional in the Spa industry, what would be your advice to someone looking to enjoy a similar career?
Once you get started in the health industry, you never stop learning! There is always something more you want to do or learn. It’s important to diversify to keep things interesting for yourself and build on your knowledge. It helps you keep up to date with the industry and offer more to your clients.
Adding value to your services always comes back to you as customers appreciate it and will often return. The physical demands of the industry often see people have to cut their career short, diversifying helps to alleviate some of the wear and tear you can physically experience as you can change your range of treatments.
