Back by popular demand! Resort guests and visitors to the Margaret River Region are invited to experience a free exhibition of works by award-winning photographer Martine Perret, on display in the resort's foyer and bistro areas from 30 May - 30 September 2017.
Join us for a relaxing lunch and soak up the stunning vistas of Bunker Bay, complemented by Martine's vibrant photography. All works are for sale and no prior reservations required. View our lunch menus.
Martine Perret began began her professional career as freelance photographer in Sydney in 1999, while also working as photographer and desk editor at The Australian Financial Review.
Her interest in photojournalism took her to Timor-Leste in 2003. For the next decade she worked for the United Nations as a peacekeeping mission photographer documenting life in conflict zones such as Burundi, South Sudan, West Africa (at the height of the Ebola response), East Timor and the Democratic Republic of The Congo.
While the years spent in the field with her camera were truly rewarding, the nomadic lifestyle took its toll. Needing to drop her suitcase somewhere, and craving the open spaces and rugged natural beauty that had brought her from her European homeland to Australia in the first place, she returned to Australia in 2003 and established a home base in Margaret River.
Her first project after moving to Western Australia was a photographic exhibition and book launch in July 2014, titled 'Margaret River Region FROM ABOVE', a self-published book on aerial views of the South West region.
In July 2015, she decided to fly over the Western Australian Goldfield’s salt lakes and photograph the series called ‘Gungurrunga Ngawa’ (Look Above). The ethereal beauty of the area’s unique shapes and textures when seen from the air reveal an extraordinary and ancient land. These images were exhibited in October 2015 and are part of the broader body of work ‘Ngala Wongga’ (Come Talk), documenting the speakers of the Goldfields languages, their connection to the land and the cultural significance of Australia’s endangered languages that was inaugurated at the Goldfields Arts Center in Kalgoorlie on 20 September 2016.
Martine is represented by Margaret River Gallery. Learn more at www.margaretrivergallery.com.au

Our complimentary yoga class for resort guests run every Saturday from 8am to 9am, led by talented local yoga instructor Shelley Guy.
Shelley has been leading health and fitness classes for over 25 years and is one of Western Australia’s longest accredited fitness instructors. Her introduction to yoga began 15 years ago as a mental and physical release from her full-time work as a TV Commercial Producer, Journalist and Fitness Instructor.
Shelley's regular clients range from beginners to experienced, 14 to 74 year olds, tradies and surfers to business people and mums. Shelley believes that through the practice of yoga there is a great connection with the mind and deeper layers of our being that very few other physical activities touch on, and sees teaching as more than guiding people to understand, strengthen and stretch their bodies, but also to find some peace, calm and contentment in life.
